Live Feed, a live and wireless video weekend residency from the 20 - 22/05/05 organised by the Live Art Development Agency

Statement of interest:
Currently working on a series of networked video installations which allow the control of video via external factors, i.e. two DVD players controlling each other, movement filmed through a camera controlling a DVD player, etc. my interest for working on Live Feed is to extend research on video networks through performance and collaboration. Below are the details for two suggested experiments.
Suggested experiments:
Seeing through the eyes of another (a closed circuit video network)

Two participants, each wears a helmet or goggles to completely restrict the field of vision. Each helmet / goggles has a minature wireless camera and LCD screen. The camera films the surrounding environment from the viewpoint of the participant while the LCD screen is placed inside the helmet / goggles. Each participants camera is connected to the other participants LCD screen forcing both participants to work as a collaborative unit by vocal command. The performance could be an exploaration of two separate spaces or the completion of a collaborative task in the same space.
Movement as a means of documentation

Using the ideas of 19th century French born physician and physiologist Etienne-Jules Maray as a starting point, construct a device which capures body movements while the body is moving and dependant on the speed / type of movement. In effect the bodies motion and gesture becomes the editor of what it moves through, controlling and editing the documentation of its own progression.
