Exploring the networked image in ‘post’ art practices
Exploring the networked image in ‘post’ art practices, an article that emerged from a conference paper in 2017, has just been published in issue 8.2 of Virtual Creativity.
Abstract: This article presents and discusses a series of four networked artworks undertaken since 2013. The artworks are performative, created within the web over a duration of time, are visible to an audience throughout their creation and as such can be considered as durational networked performances. Different in subject matter they overlap considerably in the themes, form and methods employed and constitute a body of research that explores the networked image in relation to a number of ‘post’ art practices. Specifically, this includes the questioning of media and form through postmedia, post-photographic, post-digital, post-Internet and post-screen practices in addition to addressing the manner in which the artist creates through postdisciplinary and postproduction methods.
Two works at ATC
Wasting Time on the Internet and Best of Luck with the Wall (variant) are being exhibited at the Art & Technology Conference at Sogang University, Seoul in South Korea from the 05/12 to the 09/12. Drop by and see the works if you can.
Peripheral Forms – #cyborgs
#cyborgs, an online show by Peripheral Forms is now live. It features some of my work alongside a very interesting selection of works curated by Jah Justice.
#cyborgs brings together work from across disciplinary divides for a multiplatformed art experience focused on Donna Haraway’s concept of the cyborg as a queer political body. #cyborgs connects photography, digital images, video, score based performance, digital avatars, social media residencies, and potent fusions of them all.
